Interviewed by: Mary

Where do you call home? Logan Keeley country! :D I'm about 20 min. north of Baltimore, MD.

What is a usual day like you for? Coffee. (A few minutes of quiet time if I manage to wake up before the rest of my household.) Schoolwork (I homeschool our two boys so we're either here with our noses stuck in books or out field tripping it; which is one of my favorite parts - being able to see/touch/taste what we're learning about.) Coffee. Baking cupcakes & dancing (I have a small cupcake business on the side "Jenuine Cupcakes". If I'm not filling an order then I'm brainstorming new recipes and making my friends the guinea pigs.) Dinner. Reading/Reviewing!

What is your dream vacation? Me + Books + Beach (preferably in the Maldives) for a week alone. My husband likes to tease me about this because he's convinced I'd never come back. :)

What's your favorite movie? "It's A Wonderful Life" I love this movie for so many reasons, too many to list, but the idea that every life matters is what has always stood out to me.

How/when did you hear about the Shade series and Team Kilt? I'm a little late to this party that IS Team Kilt but I'm SO HAPPY to be here! The people I've *met* on Twitter are awesome!

I stumbled upon the Shade series when I was looking at the author list for the upcoming Baltimore Book Festival. Jeri Smith-Ready was listed as not only attending but being from the area and I thought that was exciting. I bought the books and proceeded to FALL IN LOVE with the story! I also felt a personal connection because I live here and I've been to most of the places mentioned like UMCP (I went to college there), I've even been to Dublin and Glasgow. (My Dad's grandmother came over on the boat from Ireland.) Being able to visualize the local places just added to the reading experience.

Who is your favorite Shade character? PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!! :D Here's what I said about those "SHADEboys" in my review of the series...

"OhMyZach! *fans face* (Excuse me while I recover from my Zach-attack) He's the uber hot transfer student whose striking green eyes and velvety accent brings all the lasses to the yard and I'm no' talking about Scotland Yard either."
"(Not gonna lie, I would be front and center with the rest of the groupies sportin' my KBB tee and screaming, "I LOVE YOU LOGAN KEELEY!")"

Other than the Shade series, what are some of your favorite books? "Divergent/Insurgent" by Veronica Roth,"There You'll Find Me" by Jenny B. Jones (set in Ireland), "The Summer Series" by Jenny Han, "My Life Next Door"by Huntley Fitzpatrick, "Hush Hush Series" by Becca Fitzpatrick and "Something Like Normal" by Trish Doller to name a "few". ;)

If you could have dinner with any author(s), who would you choose? Jeri Smith-Ready, Veronica Roth, Myra McEntire and C.J. Redwine.

What's your favorite flavor of cupcake to eat or make? Vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting and pink sprinkles. Sounds so boring but sometimes, simple is good.

What country do you live in? I live in the United States of America. I was born in raised in Pennsylvania, but have moved 5 times in the past 6 years. Currently I live in New York just north of Albany.

How what's your age range? Ex. I have a "3" in my age & it will be there for a few more years. :D I'm in my 20s... at least for another 3 months.

What's your "day job"? My "day job" is I work at Target. I'm a part of the instocks team. Basically we scan the whole store every day updating inventory numbers, pulling items from the back to fill shelves on the sales floor, and putting up rain checks if we're out of things. It doesn't sound all that exciting, but I find it interesting to see how a large company like that works and my coworkers are pretty awesome. Your job sounds great.

Favorite book and why? There are so many books that I love, but I have to say that my favorite book is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I have recommended it to so many of my friends. It was the first book I ever got a hangover from. I read it over and over for about two weeks straight. I tried to pick up other books, but I couldn't get into them because I was still so caught up with St Clair. My husband, Jason, is the best and last year took me to Asheville, NC for the weekend for the Lola and the Boy Next Door release party at Malaprops Bookstore where I got to meet Stephanie and have her autograph my books. Her and her husband were really nice and even recommended restaurants for my husband and I to eat at since we drove 12 hours to get there and hadn't eaten most of the day. I've see her twice since then and both times she remembered me. *hi fives you* I <3 Etienne St. Clair!! So cool that you got to meet Stephanie and she remembered you. :)

What does a perfect day for you look like? I'm a pretty lazy person so my perfect day is probably quite boring. I don't really sleep, so it would start by sleeping past 6 AM. Eating breakfast with my husband and taking our dog to the park or on a hike. Laying around for the rest of the day reading and then maybe P.F. Chang's vegetarian lettuce wraps for dinner. This sounds like a perfect day!

How did you discover the SHADE Trilogy? I discovered the Shade trilogy last year from the YA Crush Tourney. I was still pretty new to YA books and was looking for some new ones to read when I stumbled upon the tourney. It was still in the first rounds of voting so I hurried to read as many of the books as I could to introduce myself to the characters. I'm not sure when exactly during this time I found Fictitious Delicious and Team Kilt, but I remember changing my twitter avi to hot guys in kilts and all the late night rallying for votes. I was hooked! I'm a horribly shy person so I didn't really say a whole lot then and still don't now, but I am a proud member of Team Kilt. <3 <3

Biggest fear? Like I said I'm a really shy person so public speaking or just having a lot of attention on me is a huge fear. (I'm even nervous about people reading this. It's good thing this is over the internet and not everyone is looking at me.) I'm also terrified of dead bodies, I have had a full on panic attack at a funeral with an open casket. I'm pretty shy until I get to know someone and I'm not a fan of dead bodies either. I passed out at my first funeral. I was 12, but still. :[

If you could have dinner with any book character(s) who would it be and what would you eat? Oh man this is such a hard question! There are characters I love from pretty much every book I've ever read. It's hard to pick just a few. It would probably turn out looking like me sitting at a long table surrounded by all the boys from the YA Crush Tourney LOL! However, I will pick what I would eat. I've always wanted to go back to the restaurant my husband and I ate at in Asheville, NC. It's an amazing vegetarian restaurant called Laughing Seed Cafe. SO GOOD! My dinner would look a lot like yours! :D

What do you like best about yourself? The thing I like best about myself is my ability to make other people laugh. 99.9% of the time I have a smile on my face and I laugh easily. I love making other people happy and doing something silly (like singing or dancing along with the TVs in the electronics dept at work) to make people laugh. I think we would get along really well - especially the dancing part. ;)

Cupcakes or Pie? I have to pick pie. Pumpkin pie is my absolute favorite food ever! It makes me sad that it's really only eaten around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I give you permission to eat pumpkin pie all year round if you want too. ;D

Mary, pumpkin pie rules. I agree with Jen: you should eat it all year round.

  3. Jen - I'd take "boring" cupcakes over fancy-schmancy ones any day. Your favorite sounds perfect to me! :)

Mary - pumpkin pie SHOULD be eaten all year round. Along with ginger cookies. :)
