SHINE Pre-Release Party Day 4: SHADE

21 Days!!
Can you believe it?? Yeah we can't either!

Last week we talked about ghosts and Logan. This week let's talk about another favorite character... ZACHARY!!

In SHADE our boy Zachary was kind of the odd man out (no, no I don't mean everyone thought that, but go with me on this one.) By the end of the book we (at least many of us) loved him! And then he decided to give Aura roses: 6 yellow for friendship and 6 red for ...well you know.

So here's your question:
How did it make you feel when he did that? Did you understand why he made the decision he made? Would you have done the same thing or would you have forced (in a way) Aura to move past Logan before she was ready? Roses or no roses...what do you think?

  1. I think Zachary is just amazing :) He is the perfect nice guy, and I love him for that :) He isn't pushing Aura to move on or anything and he wants to give her time :) And at the same time he is there for her. He is so so sweet :) <3

  2. It was sweet. It let Aura know how he felt without being pushy and lets face it Aura was in no state to be pushed. Zach gave Aura a choice and showed her is wasn't all or nothing he would be there for her in any way she needed.

  3. I think it was so sweet! Zachary's a great guy for not pushing Aura into anything and giving her the time she needs. Also, he's saying he'll be whatever she needs him to be, even if it's just a friend : )

  4. I don't really remember what I was thinking when I read that, but I would guess that it kind of upset me, even though I understand why he did it. He didn't want to push Aura into deciding that it had to be him or Logan, which was really sweet and probably his best chance at actually winning Aura over.

  5. Zachary was everything Aura needed him to be in her state. He was so patient and understanding. Most of his gestures proved so, including the meaning of the roses.

  6. I think the roses proved Zachary to be there for Aura, whether that be as a friend or something more (when she was ready). I loved that about him. His patience was very sexy ;)

  7. I totally agree with everybody ^^

It showed that he was willing to be there for her, any way she wanted or needed.

  8. I like that Zach put the ball in her court but let her know that he would be there in whatever way she needed him to be. It was very sweet. Pushing her into a relationship before she was ready wouldn't have been healthy for either of them. Zach's actions at that point showed maturity.

  9. I hope it's okay if I add a thought here! I think of this moment as not only Zach being sweet and patient, but also supremely confident that one day soon they'll be together. Maybe overly confident? And that confidence isn't shaken until that date with Aura at the beginning of SHIFT when he wonders if all his patience was really just stupidity or cowardice. (Oh, I hope that's not Wednesday's question. :-)

    1. Of course it's okay if you add a thought!! Like Marissa, I felt like we saw a lot of maturity from Zachary, and as you said confidence. If you didn't love Zachary before the roses it was hard not to afterwards. The simple act of going that extra step to figure out what the colors meant, and then giving control over their relationship to Aura said so much about Zachary. And nope...that's not Wednesday's question! :)

    2. I agree with what Jen said - if you didn't love him before, after the roses you totally did. What guy is secure enough to wait patiently while the girl he loves is getting over another guy? He has the patience of a SAINT. LOL

  10. I love that Zach was so confident he and Aura were going to end up together that he included the red roses so she'd know how he felt about her. But I also loved that he included the yellow ones so that she would know that he'd be there for her as a friend. Like Ginger said, the patience of that boy was definitely sexy! ;)

  11. I liked that Zach was letting aura know what his intentions were and still giving her enough space to sort out her feelings.

  12. I felt like Zach still pushed her too much. I'm glad he stepped back because obviously if your life long boyfriend dies you will need years to get over it.
