Team Kilt St. Patty's DayWe’re celebrating the Keeley heritage this weekend by talking about Ireland! Or kissing!  Whichever you prefer.  But there is definitely a giveaway involved.

If you have a blog and would like to participate in this hop we’d like to say THANK YOU!  Just write a blog post on Saturday, March 17, about your favorite thing about Ireland OR your favorite kiss story and hold a giveaway. You can set your own rules for the giveaway (ie – international eligibility, time limits, what people have to do to enter, etc.) but you do need to have a winner selected by Thursday, March 22.

While it’s true that I have exactly zero drops of Irish blood in my family line, I do still enjoy a good kiss.  And today I’d like to share my “First Kiss” story with you.

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Jen. Jen had a mad crush on a boy named…Mickey. (NOT HIS REAL NAME, lol) Mickey was a 7th grader and much cooler than the cute little 5th grader who batted her eyes at him from the curb while he rode his BMX bike up and down 10th Street. A bunch of fun stuff happened that summer and Mickey realized that Jen was a-ok after all. In fact, he thought she was a-ok enough to well, you know, kiss.

So they climbed up onto the roof of the neighbor’s barn-shaped shed just after dark one summer day in 1984. They gazed at the stars and made small talk about the really cool Star Wars figures Mickey collected. Then they looked at each other, laughed nervously and went in to seal the deal. It was only a quick peck on the lips, but it was a fine peck. So fine that they did it again. And again. (Let’s just say this wasn’t Mickey’s first, second & third kiss.)

EPILOGUE: Later that week, Jen and Mickey were wed near the wood pile in Jen’s backyard. One of the other kids from the neighborhood officiated while the guests of this momentous occasion threw dirt at them in lieu of rice. They would have lived happily ever after if only Chad hadn’t moved in next door.

THE END.

Now it’s your turn to dish.  Tell us a good kiss story!  If you don’t want to share one of your own kissy moments, tell us your favorite kissing scene from a book or movie.

Your answer in the comments below is your entry for our giveaway prize consisting of a large Flogging Molly T-Shirt, a pair of sporty Ireland socks and a wicked bottle of green nail polish.  This contest is open internationally and will end on Tuesday, March 20 at 11:59PM CST.

  1. Oh my gosh.. your first kiss story was hilarious, "They would have lived happily ever after if only Chad hadn’t moved in next door." - hahahaha!!!

My first kiss happened at a Halloween party in the 8th grade. I can't remember how I ended up outside, on the drive way with this boy (we'll call him Ricky). I just remember locking lips with Ricky and then a car honking that interrupted us b/c my best friend's mom was there to pick me up & take me home!! Oh man. Talk about a mood killer.

and for my epilogue... I found out a little while later, Ricky had a crush on me for years (you know.. all the way back to elementary school! lol) & that "kiss" had been something he was working up to. Awwww. Too bad it started and ended on that driveway.

  2. My first kiss was with the love of my 14 year old selves life. Only a couple of years ago really (wishful thinking). I had taken part in a bell ringing competition, who knew i was a campanologist (very english i hear you say). Anyway i degress, we won best improved, not bad as we had only reopened the tower a year before and most of us were starting from scratch. Wondered again. There was a barn dance afterwards and so i bucked all up courage and asked LOML and really good friend for years, if he wanted to go with me. He said "Yes"! So his mum dropped him off and half way through the evening we went for a walk down a quiet leaf country lane (think typical Jane Austin) and after a while we stopped and kissed!!!!!! WOW LOML was definitely L.O.M.L! So we went out for a whole glorious month and then he dumped me, for my FRIEND. I was heartbroken, distraught, curled up in a corner and playing loud, sad songs repeatedly.

On the up side I am still really good friends the LOML stealer and LMOL, well he turned out to be a dick! Happy ending.

  3. My first kiss story isn't any good at all. It happened when I was five and a boy from my class chased me around the playground until he kissed me.
My favourite kiss from a book or movie is Wesley and Buttercup in the Princess Bride, after all “Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.” That says it all.

  4. My favorite kiss story happens to be the kiss I got when my boyfriend (now husband) proposed. I know that sounds cliche, but at the time we had been dating for seven years so it was definitely a kiss that was years in the making. We took a walk down the moonlit beach. He was holding my hand and speaking pretty, heartfelt words about our life, our future, and how much he loved me. Finally, he stopped and with the waves crashing in the background, he took me in his arms for a kiss. And then bit my tongue. I don't know if it was nerves or excitement but he made it all better by saying those four magic words. No. Not "Is your tongue okay?"....."Will you marry me?"

    1. HAHAHAHA! Oh, I love this! Wait, but was your tongue ok? Or you probably didn't care if it was or not after he popped the question, right?

  5. My first kiss was the product of a case of "spin the bottle"...and it was passionate. I still remember the boy's full name, what I was wearing and the fact that I was supposed to be in dance class when it happened. Le sigh. I think I'll have nice dreams tonight.
    Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

  8. Jen your story is the best! I'll share my first kiss with my now husband. It was our first/second date (depends who you ask). We were in college and he came to my dorm room to watch a movie. We were talking and teasing each other about random things. He started tickling me and then leaned in and kissed me. Four years later he took me to a fancy restaurant and proposed! He was so nervous he forgot his wallet and I paid for my own engagement dinner. We'll be celebrating 5 years in September! :D

  12. My first kiss was with a guy who thought his tongue should be in my mouth the whole time. I was scared to kiss after that because I didn't realize that was what a kiss was. I was so wrong :) kissing is great with the right person.... Thanks for the giveaway.

  15. My first kiss was in the 6th grade, behind the dumpster out back of St. James the Less Catholic elementary school! We were hiding from the nuns because they kind of frowned on that kind of thing! LOL It was with John McGee, a Black Irish lad with black hair and blue, blue eyes! Ahhh, memories :D

  16. My first kids was when I was two or three years old. I know, I know. But it was a kiss on the lips that lasted longer than a few seconds. Or so I'm told by my parents who were watching (along with his). Five seconds later he pushed me off the trike. *shrugs* And then my first REAL kiss was at a party playing spin the bottle...Or maybe truth or dare. ONE of those "fun" games. ;0)

  17. My first kiss was a kiss and run...and it wasn't even a kiss on the lips! It happened my freshman year of high school [I know, I know, so late in life!] with my boyfriend of the time...let's call him Boyfriend the First. I'm oh so clever I know. Anyway, it was at the end of the Valentine's Dance and we were standing with our combined groups of friends making awkward small talk when it happened...He got the call that his parents were there to pick him up, leaned over and kissed me on the cheek and ran out the door...leaving me standing there awkwardly with his best friend [who is now my bestest friend ever and boyfriend the first not so much!]. True story.

  18. That is a GREAT story! :D
My first kiss was in 2007 with my first boyfriend. We watched a movie and suddenly he was all over me,kissing me on the forehead, on the hand and on my mouth. We never saw the rest of the movie, we were busy kissing. It was very romantic and I will never forget it. I don't regret anything. I still talk to him and I will never forget that he was my first love.
Today I'm also a friend of his new girlfriend and she's so sweet! No hard feelings. It's great feeling like that!

  19. Hehehe! In kindergarten, we were stading in line for the water fountain and I ran up and kissed a boy, Nick. My teacher didn't think it was funny and awarded me with a red card and a call to my parents. :) That's the only red card I ever got in school. I thought it was quite appropriate, I mean, red is the color of love afterall! Lol!

  20. Hahaha I love that it was a barn shaped shed, very rustic and romantic! :) According to legend(my sister)my first kiss was at the tender age of 4 or 5. Mathew was an older boy that came over every once in a while when our parents would hang out. Apparently i thought that he would like that I was a woman who knew what I wanted, so I made the first move and I kissed him. After that he ran to his parents, bawling his eyes out I might add, and told them that I kissed him. Even though all the adults(and my brother and sister) were laughing I thought I was in trouble so I started crying too. But now I'm wondering now if I was crying because I thought I was in trouble, the embarrassment or because I had been rejected by Mathew. I will never know, especially because I don't even remember this happening! lol

  22. My first kiss was bad. The boy sported a mullet (they were way cool back then). We were in the first seat of the school bus so the bus driver couldn't spy on us in her mirror. Anyways, homeboy bit the Christ out of me. Soooo, since I was so freaked out, I didn't have my next real kiss until 8th grade. I was at a lock in at Roller City Skating Rink. Me and my new boyfriend (he had a mullet too. I must've had a thing for mullet boys) snuck behind a wall and that boy made me see stars. He sure knew what the hell he was doing! I just hope I didn't bite him. Musta been okay, we lasted 3 months-ish!!
